Introduction:

A Unicorn is a magical beast of mythic legend. Although similar in appearance to a standard horse, the Unicorn is noticeable larger and has a single horn that grows from the center of its forehead. Unicorns are an iconic monster for good, justice, and righteousness. Usually found solitary or as a mated pair. Unicorns stay near their home territory. Their territory has greater importance to fey magic and traditions. The Unicorn will protect this territory with its life seeking out and destroying any evil that could cause harm to any creature or nature in the area. A Unicorn is has very powerful protective and healing magic. All the Unicorn’s magical power is concentrated in their horn. That makes a Unicorn’s horn a highly sought item on the black market.

Investigation:

With Lilith’s aid we made it out of the Bog Wallow Forest with ease. We thanked her for her hospitality and continued our journey across open fields and through sparse woods. As we were hiking along we heard the distinct whimper of an animal that sounded injured and afraid. We slowed our pace and crept along to find the source of the noise. It wasn’t long until we discovered a fawn with one of its legs trapped and bleeding in the metal jaws of a hunter’s trap. The plan was for my assistant to calm the fawn while I released its leg from the trap. Using all my strength, I pried open the metal jaws of the trap so that we could pull the fawn’s leg out. The fawn stumble a few steps away, limping on its injured foot. Out of the woods, a golden light shown bathing us in a calming and inspiring energy. A white unicorn with a green mane and tail trotted towards us, its golden horn shining brightly in the midday sun.

Observations:

Unicorns are mythical beasts with healing and protective magic. They are territorial and abhor any and all evil. These woods must be part of this Green Maned Unicorn’s home territory. He was larger than a standard horse and stared down at us, then turned his gaze to the injured fawn. The unicorn shook out his green mane and took two steps froward. Bowing low he touched the tip of his horn to the fawn’s injured leg. In a flash of golden light the wound was completely healed. The fawn stood, butted his head into the unicorns chest, turned toward us and gave us a short little bleat before bouncing off into the woods. We stared in awe at the majestic monster humbled by its incredible power. As the unicorn turned to leave, it flipped its mane one last time and spoke in an angelic voice, “Follow me”.

Conclusion:

Our act of kindness to free the injured fawn must of endeared us to the Green Maned Unicorn. If it had detected any evil at all we would have been gored on its golden horn.  We leapt to our feet full of excitement. The Green Maned Unicorn trotted off into the woods. We ran to follow!
