Introduction:

The Puppermint is a uniquely talented monster. It has the body of a short stout dog with two antlers protruding from the top of its head and a long flexible tail. The end of the tail can be manipulated into a wide range of shapes to supplement the Puppermint’s almost singular purpose, painting. specifically painting confectionary treats.

Investigation:

While we both enjoyed the festival party hosted by Prichard, the Bard. My assistant took particular interest in the table of sweets and candies. These sweets would make a wonderful gift for our family and friends across the great sea. Prichard gave us the address for the Royal Academy of Sweets, a store operated by his good friend, Joy Beatrice. He promised that if we went in early before the rush of children and asked nicely, we were in for a real treat. What a chance to meet a monster few have seen; but, most everyone has experienced!

Observations:

We arrived at Beatrice’s store just as she was opening. It was a small shop with cases full of cookies and cakes. Candy jars lined the walls. She led us through a narrow hallway to a small room.  Intricate paintings lined every inch of the walls. There was one of the dock, the academy, Beatrice’s shop, the Goblin’s Golden Library, even a portrait of Prichard playing the lute, and many more. On a small stool in the center of the room sat the artist of these amazing works, a Puppermint. With a short body about 2.5 SBL’s in length and a tail about 3 SBL’s long. He was delicately painting the signature red swirl on a candy cane using the tip of his tail as the brush.  Beatrice apologized for interrupting his work and introduced us. He gave two quick barks and a huff in response. We did a quick tour of his room admiring all the paintings taking some observations of his candy painting technique. It wasn’t long before the Peppermint issued a quiet sneeze, two huffs, and a short bark.  It was his polite way of asking us to leave so he could concentrate on his work.  Beatrice escorted us back to the front of the shop and told us that he paints all the candy canes for half the kingdom. She said he was terrible sorry but didn’t want to get behind.

Conclusion:

The Puppermint is a rare and reclusive monster. Their talent and hard work can’t be overstated. It’s a shame we couldn’t spend more time with him at the candy shop. However, we understand the demanding nature of one’s work. That afternoon we boarded the boat that would carry us across the great sea to further our investigations.
