Introduction:

Demons are a diverse and vast subset of monsters. They come from the Abyssal Realm. That’s another plane of existence where dark energies and raw magic flow in chaotic rivers across a harsh and desolate landscape. Demons are warped by this environment into grotesque and bizarre monsters. The Winged Boar Demon, has small feathered wings, humanoid hands, hoofed feet and two tusks. It is capable of flight but not very good at it. Rather small for a demon, it stands at 5.2 SBL’s. Like most demons it possesses a strong magic resistance, dark vision, and the ability to see through illusions and enchantments.

Investigation:

We continued our journey across The Great Arid Wastes. It was once a lush and prosperous region. Many generations ago the area was ravaged and torn asunder by a battle of magic. It was rumored that the magical conflict had opened a passage between our realm and the Abyssal realm. On the edge of a vast crevice in the earth we spotted what could only be a clothes line with a pair of trousers and two sun bleached shirts pinned on it. It was a small camp. We approached cautiously making our presence known so as to not startle the occupant, a rather strange and eccentric dwarf. He introduced himself as Felix Coppertooth of the Skyshard clan. It was getting late and he invited us to stay. As we exchanged stories of our travels, Felix revealed he was a Demonologist. He was currently documenting the demons of the region and searching for the rumored passage to the Abyssal Realm. The next day Felix woke us early, he was excited to show us a demon he’s had the most success in studying.

Observations:

We made our way to the bottom of the crevice and hid among the rocks. Felix worked a stretchy bright red cloth like substance in his hands before inflating it with his breath. Using a magic cantrip he then sent it floating away from us down the center of the ravine. As it moved farther away, a hoofed demon covered in red fur came running after it, its fiery red eyes filled with wonderment and joy. Felix floated the red object into the sky forcing the boar demon to flutter his wispy feathered wings to continue the chase. The wing boar demon finally managed to catch the bright red floating object and promptly popped it with a ravenous bite using its tusks.

Conclusion:

It was clear this monster was not from this realm but unclear how it got here. Perhaps the rumors of the passage to the Abyssal Realm were true. Felix admitted he had been camped there for several phases of the moon and had not found the passage. The only Demon he had seen was the small Winged Boar Demon which he affectionately referred to as Albert.  We stayed one more night with Felix and continued our journey in the morning. With any luck we only had one or two more days of travel before we had successfully traversed The Great Arid Wastes.
